Electricity - both natural and man-made energy!

Electricity is produced, stored and distributed in a variety of ways. Electrical energy is a very convenient form of energy: it is clean, efficient and relatively easy to transport. But where does it come from? This section of the Power Programme provides most of the answers with Key Stage 3 Topic Sheets covering static electricity, current in circuits, electromagnets and how electricity is transferred from power station to home.

Printable Topic Sheets

These topic sheets cover the various physical properties of electricity, its behaviour in circuits, electromagnetic induction and how energy is transferred from power station to home. This section provides a fundamental platform for higher level Key Stage 4 study.

Bring your lessons to our power stations

A visit to an First Hydro power station will help you bring the curriculum alive. We have visitors centres at two of our sites, these are;

Dinorwig (Electric Mountain) and Ffestiniog

Site Visit Fact Sheets

The Site Visit fact sheets are simple guides to accompany visits to First Hydro power stations. The guides contain a site plan for pupils to colour in and study with some basic statistical information about the site in question. There are also one or two glimpses of what the pupils will be seeing during the visit.
