HOW A POWER STATION WORKS

  • KS2 Programmes of study

  • This section aims to provide the student with an insight into the functions of a power station.

MAIN TEACHING POINTS

  • Electricity cannot be stored, it has to be generated. The National Grid Company controls the supply of power, making sure the country has ample electricity.

  • If more electricity is needed, NGC will contact the power stations and request an increase in output. More power is needed at certain times of the day and year.
